First public screening in Florida of A Shtetl in The Caribbean.

On Monday the 26th of February 2018 at 19:00 o’clock the documentary A Shtetl in the Caribbean by filmmaker Sherman De Jesus will be screened at Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, Aventura, Florida. This is a Synagogue Community committed to Jewish learning, Jewish practice, Jewish values, the Jewish people and the State of Israel.

The roadmovie documentary tells the touching story of the two main characters Mark and Tsale. In this documentary the childhood friends who grew up on Curaçao travel back to the home countries of their ancestors in search of the history of their past. We travel with them across Curaçao, the United States, Belarus, Ukraine and Israel. We witness their discoveries, courage and despair while they are reminded of the sacrifices their parents had to make to provide their families with a better future.

This will be the first public screening of the award winning film in Florida. The viewing will be followed by a Q&A session with one of the film’s subjects Mark Wizniter.
