  3. Ronald Snijders winner of the Boy Edgar Award

We warmly congratulate Ronald Snijders on the Boy Edgar award. The Boy Edgar award, the most important award in the Netherlands for jazz and improvised music, was this year awarded to flautist, composer and bandleader Ronald Snijders (71). The career of Snijders is one of diversity. He mixes the Surinamese musical styles of kaseko and kawina with jazz, funk and soul, leaving his mark on the development of jazz and improvised music in the Netherlands.

Ronald Snijders composed the music for New Light: the Rijksmuseum and slavery for Memphis Film & Television. A film by Ida Does about the genesis of the slavery exhibition in the Rijksmuseum. This film shows in a personal way how painful and bitter, but at the same time healing and liberating compiling the exhibition was. The Boy Edgar Prize will be awarded in the Bimhuis on Wednesday the 7th of December at 20:00. Buy your tickets on the website of Bimhuis!
